Avocado is the national fruit to Mexico. Its scientific name is Persea Americana. It has claimed that it is highly nutritious. This fruit is always called as a ‘green alligator pear’ due to its appearance and shape with bumpy skin and green color which looks just like alligator. The guacamole dip and condiment made from avocado in Mexico is very famous for its tasty and delicious properties besides its rich texture. These make it an ingredient for salad in cuisine and restaurant in Mexico and the United States.

Benefits of Avocado
What is so good in the avocado that everyone has liked it so much of its taste and is in high demands. This friut has been known as a superfood after research showed that it has high value on health benefits. This fruit contains high amount of potassium and higher than that of banana. The potassium is needed by the neuron and nerve system to function properly.
The fat present in the fruit is about 70% and it is known as oleic acid. This fat is monosaturated fat that is a major component of olive oil. Oleic acid has been widely studied and it has anti-inflammatory property and carries beneficial effects on delaying the effect of genetic cancer.
Furthermore, the avocado is high in fiber amount. There are 25% of fiber which is soluble fiber which helps to soften our stools and aids in peristalsis whereas the 75% of the fiber present helps to add bulks to stool to make it easier during defecation.
Consuming avocado can lower the cholesterol and triglycerides level. Accumulation of cholesterol and fat is the main culprit which contributes to many of the diseases especially cardiovascular heart disease and blood pressure. There were studies showed that after a constant daily consumption of this fruit, the LDL cholesterol decreased by 22% and HDL cholesterol level increased up to 11%.
Avocado contains antioxidant properties which is able to confer advantages to health. Its main interesting property is able to protect the eyes due to the presence of Lutein and Zeaxanthin in avocado. It helps to compliment the absorption of other fruit nutrient because of its high fat content. Some of the nutrient needs fat to be used together to function properly. This is one of the reasons why avocado is added to the salad for consumption.
In addition, there are studies related to the isolated cells with nutrient from the fruit is able to prevent prostate cancer growth and lowering side effects of chemotherapy in some cells. It also can reduce and relief the pain of osteoarthritis. Studies have shown that the extract from the it have significantly reduce the osteoarthritis symptoms.
