We have found that some females even in this modern day and age of information overload are still unaware that they are not supposed to use any kind of shower gel or body soap to wash their intimate area daily. Here is why.
Naturally, certain bacteria lives inside the vagina which helps the body to fight against infection. The bodies defense system, so to speak. Washing the intimate area with soap may change the pH levels in the vagina. Meaning, while the vagina is acidic by nature & soap is alkaline (or opposite acidic) which will essential neutralize or disable to bodies natural defense system against bacteria found around us. This results in an alteration of the normal flora in the vagina which will then lead to vaginal infection.
The chemical content in soap and shower gel may also irritate the thin layer of skin and cause inflammation or dermatitis. Think of washing your face. You wouldn’t wash your face with regular soap, so why should your vagina suffer the same fate? Foreign oils and vaseline products are also inappropriate for vaginal use. Studies showed that these products are more likely to cause bacterial and yeast infection. The increased risk of infection might be due to natural beneficial bacteria being destroyed, allowing the harmful bacteria to grow.
Other than that, lubricants can damage sensitive tissues thus increasing the risk of infection. Some feminine washes contain dangerous chemicals such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Paraben, Disodium EDTA, Acetate and etc. All these ingredients are known to be carcinogens, allergens, irritants, toxins which may cause cancer, allergic, irritation and kills healthy cells.
Furthermore, feminine deodorants and perfumes aren’t helpful at all because they just cover up the problem without solving the actual root problem. Most irritation or allergic reactions are caused by the fragrance or scent contained in these products.
