The trends for cosmetic, supplement & traditional categories, there was a reduction in registrations for July

Cosmetics Top 5 Keywords

These keywords interchange with themselves for place frequently throughout the months, with exception of gels which were more commonly seen due to the dramatic rise in sanitizer product registrations. Making up the majority of cosmetic trends 2021 July observed.

MAL Registered Top 5 Keywords

Looking more finely into the MAL registered product categories in part due to the minimum 9-month registration timeline, there were a mere handful of new products registered (approved) for July.

Changes like this could be due to the work from home order and government allocation of resources, putting product registrations such as MAL products as low priority items.

Conclusion

There is a dramatic reduction in registered products manufactured by Malaysian factories. This could be due to the persistent COVID19 lockdown which is causing economic uncertainty.

It is clear there is a saturation of products in categories of sanitization, disinfection and other related antibacterial products related to COVID19. With even such “trending” products in decline for registration this could be an indicator of more cautious spending and a dramatic spending reduction from households.
