Dry skin vs. dehydrated skin. They feel the same, but are very different. What does that mean? Find out below.
First, let’s talk about sky types vs. skin conditions. Your skin type is the normal state of your skin, such as oily or dry skin. However, the condition of your skin is something that can be caused by external factors. These external factors can then manifest as issues such as acne and irritation. This can happen to anyone, for an indeterminate period of time. Skin conditions can also be treated whereas you can only adjust your skin care routine to your skin type.
Having a dry skin type means that your skin naturally produces less oil. It is also possible that when you apply moisturisers and/or lotions your skin absorbs the product quickly. If this is the case, you would need to make sure your skin care routine is suitable to your needs and gets enough moisture.
On the other hand, if your skin is dehydrated, it means that your skin isn’t getting enough moisture from its surroundings. Some causes are makeup, diet, insufficient water intake, improper use of products and the weather. When your skin is dehydrated, it compensates by producing more oil that normal. This can cause acne, irritation and dry patches. Your skin might also feel oily and dry at the same time.
