Any kind of diabetes can lead to other complications including delayed healing (with possible complications), and increased risk of heart disease and kidney failure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Eating_sugar_is_the_ONLY_cause_of_diabetes\"><\/span>2. Eating sugar is the ONLY cause of diabetes.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">There are many other factors including your genetics, living environment, overall diet and exercise levels which can help determine your risk of developing diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_People_with_diabetes_cant_eat_any_sugar_or_carbohydrates\"><\/span>3. People with diabetes can\u2019t eat any sugar or carbohydrates.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Carbohydrates are an essential part of everyone\u2019s diet, the key is moderation and knowing how much you should eat. Too much sugar is bad for anyone. For people with diabetes moderating &amp; eating a controlled portion of carbohydrates is essential to maintain blood sugar levels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Ill_know_if_I_have_diabetes_when_the_symptoms_appear\"><\/span>4. I\u2019ll know if I have diabetes when the symptoms appear.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Not all diabetic cases have obvious symptoms. Many people are unaware that they are diabetic until a routine blood or urine test tells them otherwise. This is because in Type 2 diabetes can be present with few or no symptoms due to the remaining amount of insulin (however small) can still perform its function, although not as effectively. However, Type 1 diabetes often presents itself during childhood and the symptoms are more obvious as there is no or very little insulin in the body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_If_I_dont_take_medicine_for_my_diabetes_it_must_not_be_very_serious\"><\/span>5. If I don\u2019t take medicine for my diabetes, it must not be very serious.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Not everyone with diabetes may be required to take medicine.
